Professor Loren teaches and writes in the fields of copyright, intellectual property and internet law. Her casebooks, COPYRIGHT IN A GLOBAL INFORMATION ECONOMY (5th Ed. Aspen 2019) (co-authored), and INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW: CASES AND MATERIALS (7th Ed. Semaphore Press 2021) (co-authored), are widely adopted at law schools throughout the United States. Professor Loren’s numerous law review articles address a broad range of copyright issues including several articles related to music copyright: Copyright Jumps the Shark: The Music Modernization Act, 99 Boston University Law Review 2519 (2019); The Dual Narratives in the Landscape of Music Copyright, 52 Houston Law Review 537 (2014); Untangling the Web of Music Copyrights, 53 Case Western Reserve Law Review 673 (2003). She currently serves as an Associate Reporter on American Law Institute’s first Restatement of Law, Copyrights. From 2014-2019, Professor Loren served as president of the board of Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (OVLA).
