Adam Leber
CEO & Founder, Rebel
Adam Leber is an American talent manager, entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. Born and raised in Queens, New York, Leber’s unconventional path through the music industry began while he was a student at UMass Amherst, where a successful side hustle as a DJ and event promoter inspired him to drop out and pursue an internship at Loud Records. The internship at Loud led to a job in the label’s marketing department, where he worked with quintessential New York hip-hop artists such as Mobb Deep, Big Pun, and the Wu-Tang Clan.
Leber eventually decided to change lanes in 2004 and began his career in artist management and has gone on to manage Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Labrinth, Noah Cyrus, Will.i.am, Avril Lavigne, Fifth Harmony, Travis Scott, XXXtentacion, and more throughout his career.
Always able to spot trends, Leber began to focus on Silicon Valley in 2007 and diversified his business by starting an investment fund in 2008. Today, Leber is an early investor in companies such as Uber, Everlane, Airbnb, Acorns, Reface, Stance, and Hyperloop. Currently, he manages a multimillion-dollar fund focused on consumer goods and technology, with investments in over 50 companies.
In 2019, Leber stepped into television where he acted as Music Supervisor for HBO’s runaway hit, Euphoria. This role earned him his first Emmy nomination in 2020.
Leber currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Sarah Boyer, and daughter, Micki Mae.
Music in the Metaverse - How Virtual Concerts are Driving New Revenue Streams for Artists & Labels: A Conversation with Adam Leber & Jon Vlassopulos
10/12/21, 7:00 PM
Artists and labels are increasingly being attracted to the Metaverse as virtual concerts and launch parties on platforms like Roblox are creating new ways to connect with fans and drive new revenue opportunities. Fans enjoy these experiences where they can discover new music, hang out with friends, play games and shop the latest “verch” to express their fandom for their favorite artists. The Metaverse offers the opportunity to create hyper-immersive, social, virtual concert experiences that reach millions of fans globally and allows artists to express their music and themselves in ways that are hard, costly and time consuming to do in real life. In this fireside chat, Strat Americas CEO Seth Schachner will sit down with Jon Vlassopulos, VP, Head of Global Music at Roblox and Adam Leber, CEO of Rebel and Talent Manager of Lil Nas X, to discuss what it takes to create a successful virtual concert experience, strategies to create new revenue streams (Lil Nas X “verch” is now at an eight-figure annual run rate), benefits for fans, and how to successfully break through in the Metaverse.
