Out of a dimly lit basement in Chicago, and amongst the spray-painted sidewalks on Fairfax, there blossoms a 21-year-old rage child determined to disturb the alt-rock environment. Aptly named Forest, her world is a seductive labyrinth of heartbreak, addiction, faith and lust, calling out to the void of understanding her place in the world, or lack thereof. Influenced by the undertow of bands like Deftones, Mannequin Pussy and Fleshwater, Forest’s music luxuriates the listener with narratives of growth, loss and the furies of acceptance.
